COURTHOUSE,
March 10 – A man charged with
buying guns in Tennessee and
selling them in New York pled
guilty on January 30 before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Valerie E. Caproni.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the
courtroom.
Judge
Caproni asked if the defendant
understood he was waiving the
statute of limitations, then
explained it. She asked if he
understood he was waiving the
right to appeal any sentence
five years or below, as put in
the plea agreement.
Yes, was
the answer.
Sentencing is set for May 21
at 2:30 pm.
On February 20 as
to co-defendant Diaz, facing
trial April 7, the US
Attorney's Office's office
wrote in asking to adjourn
deadlines given discussions of
a pre-trial resolution.
On March 10, the
US Attorney's Office wrote in
seeking a change of plea date
for Diaz; Judge Caproni set it
for March 20 at 2:30 pm.
The case is
USA v. Tyson, 1:24-cr-252
