Man Who Tried to Firebomb Harlem Buildings Twice in 2024 Now Plead to Mazel Tov Cocktail

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 21 – A man charged with arson for throwing two Molotov cocktails at 74 West 119th Street in Harlem in 2024 came to pled guilty to possession of the Molotov cocktails without a licence, on March 21, 2025 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag court.

Judge Parker ran through the questions; when it was time to allocute, the defendant said he had had two "Mazel Tov" cocktails. This was not corrected, but may be, in the transcript.

The plea deal is for 57 to 71 months, with sentencing set for July 15 by the assigned District Judge Jesse M. Furman.

The case is USA v. Calderon, 1:24-cr-119 (Furman / Parker)
