SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Jan 21 – A man from Ecuador
who has been in the US since
2011 was detained by ICE
during a vehicle stop in
Poughkeepsie, New York on
October 28, 2025.
He has
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it. The
petition says "he presented a
valid New York driver's
license" but that "ICE alleged
he lacked lawful immigration
status."
The
petition was assigned to Judge
John P. Cronan, who has
ordered the Government to
respond by January 23.
The case is
Alvarado Quezada v. Francis,
et al., 1:26-cv-387 (Cronan)
