for Public Urination Is Detained

COURTHOUSE,
May 13 –A man from Venezuela
in ICE detention in 26 Federal
Plaza on May 13 filed a habeas
corpus petition in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York,
where Inner City Press found
it.
The
petition says on May 12 he was
detained for public urination
in Queens, and detained by
ICE. He entered the US on
April 5, 2024 and applied for
asylum and protection under
the Convention Against
Torture.
Judge
Jeannette A Vargas to whom the
case was assigned ordered the
Clerk of Court to notify the
US Attorney's Office.
The case is
Juliao v. Francis, et al.,
1:26-cv-3977 (Vargas)
