Gets 2 Years

Sept 12 – Jordan Rosario was
arrested on August 18, 2023 on
174th Street and Manor Avenue
in The Bronx, charged with
selling oxycodone and having a
Taurus .40 pistol with nine
rounds.
On January
22, 2024 Rosario and his
Federal Defender appeared
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Paul A. Engelmayer.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the
courtroom.
There was
discussion of the SDNY Young
Adult Opportunity Program -
and whether the gun charge
disqualifies Rosario from it.
The came up recently, with an
affirmative answer, before
SDNY Judge Naomi Reice
Buchwald in a case also
covered by Inner City Press.
Judge Engelmayer said that the
time had come to set a trial
date, and did: April 8, 2024.
The Federal
Defender said if YAOP is
unavailable, she would
anticipate a disposition and
not trial. She asked for the
protective order to be
expanded so she can show the
discovery to the defendant's
mother. That was approved.
On March 21,
2024, Rosario pled guilty. His
sentenced was pushing back "to
facilitate consideration of
Mr. Rosario's application to
the YAOP."
On August 27, his
counsel wrote in asking for
time served - three months and
counting in the MDC after a
VOSR.
On September 3,
the US Attorney's Office wrote
in asking for 24 months.
And on September
12, he was sentenced to 24
months, with directions to be
removed from MDC promptly, to
Fort Dix or elsewhere near
NYC.
