Man Indicted for 2019 Murder in Washington Heights Is Second Detained in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 23 – A man charged with a 2019 murder on 158th Street and Broadway in Manhattan was brought on September 23, 2024 into the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court, covered by Inner City Press.

The now-unsealed indictment contains "notice of special sentencing factors." Another defendant had previously been charged for the same murder, in a case the docket in which is silent since January 2024.

This new defendant was appointed a white shoe law firm as CJA counsel, and consented to detention. The assigned District Judge will see him on September 26 at 11:15 am.

The case is  USA v. Filpo, 1:24-cr-463 (Engelmayer / Parker)
