EDNY Now Transfer to SDNY US

COURTHOUSE,
Jan 30 –A man from Guatemala
who has lived in the US for 23
years was detained by ICE on
January 27 in Queens.
He filed a habeas
corpus petition, initially in
the EDNY. It was transferred
to the SDNY and assigned to
Judge Edgardo Ramos.
The petition lives and
works in Elmhurst and was
apprehended there. He has a
nine year old daughter with
Neurofibromatos Type 1, the
petition says. (It also
describes the petition as a
man than as a woman, and place
of nationality as Guatemala
then Ecuador.)
A response is due
by February 2.
The case is
Rocano Once v. Genalo, et al.,
1:26-cv-835 (Ramos)
who left Liberia
fleeing the civil war there
and entered the US in 2000 was
detained by ICE on Varick
Street on January 28.
That same day he
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the US District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The
petition acknowledges that he
was convicted of a misdemeanor
in 2010 in New York. He was
detained by ICE inside the
interview room on January 28.
The case
was not assigned out as of 11
pm on January 28.
