SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
July 18 – Manuel Balbi
Agramonte pled guilty to drug
charged on January 3 and was
ordered to turn himself into
the U.S. Marshals for
detention pending
sentencing.
But his lawyer
asked for a stay, citing the
January 4 decision about
conditions in the Metropolitan
Detention Center by U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Jesse M. Furman, on
which Inner City Press
reported on January 4 (US v.
Chavez)
SDNY Judge
Jennifer L. Rochon stayed her
order, for Agramonte and
counsel to appear and argue on
January 5 at 11 am. Inner City
Press was there - but
Agramonte was not.
The
Marshals came in, but their
time was not yet. Judge Rochon
said she would be issuing an
arrest warrant.
Jump cut to July
11, 2024 when lead defendant
Diaz Mata's lawyer wrote in
asking for a time served
sentence on July 25 at 10 am.
On July 18, the
US Attorney's Office wrote in
asking for 70 months on Diaz
Mata.
The case is
US v. Diaz Mata, et al.,
22-cr-548 (Rochon)
