Mother Detained by ICE Says Set to Be Flown to El Salvador So Files SDNY Habeas Petition

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 12 –A mother from El Salvador was detained by ICE in 26 Federal Plaza on February 12.

She filed a habeas corpus petition in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.

The petition says that she "is set to be removed from the US immediately today by plane... she is a 37-year-old Salvadoran woman, single mother of two children, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old transgender girl, both Salvadoran."

The case was assigned to District Judge Jennifer H. Rearden. The petitioner has made an emergency motion for a TRA returnable at 2 pm.

This case is Saavedra Pena, et al., v. Genalo, et al., 1:26-cv-1183 (Rearden)
