After Multiple Searches of South Bronx Drug House Rosario Pled Now US Asks 15 Years

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 2 – Luis Rosario was presented and ordered detained on February 15 for his role in a South Bronx drug house in which people have died.

In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court, Inner City Press was the only media present. Exclusive thread:

OK - now at 6:25 pm here in SDNY Magistrates Court, Luis Rosario charged with distribution of fentanyl -resulting in 12 deaths by overdose, allegedly - out of 755 Coster Street in the Bronx.

AUSA: I understand there will be a bail application. But this is a presumption case. He is the leader of a conspiracy, it was deadly - it has caused death. The investigation is still ongoing. I suspect it will be ongoing. Someone died in the house

AUSA: CC-3 owns the home. They sell fentanyl. He's lived at 739 Coster since 2009. Narcotics have been repeatedly seized, the DTO returns. He poses a risk to many people.

Judge: The Bronx DA conducted annual search warrants? AUSA: All but one year. The first was in 2015 - drugs and gun. 2016 and 2018, searches. 2019: Crack and heroin. 2020: crack and heroin. 2022, magazine for 9mm. April 2023, he was arrested on 2d floor, drugs

AUSA: Yesterday he was arrested in the vestibule, narcotics there. Witnesses call him the boss. But he said, yesterday, he just plays dominos there. We have UC buys.

AUSA: He was not deterred by people dying in the home he's dealing drugs out of. Unresponsive male - it had rigor mortis. The area had been cleared of drugs - suggesting there was a delay in calling 9-1-1. It takes six months, in this city, to get the test results

AUSA: The co-defendant is currently fleeing from the law. This is his first Federal offense, it carried a ten year minimum. His rap sheet is a series of pleading out out to lesser offenses. He has 15 narcotics arrests

AUSA: There are "death resulting" charges very probably coming down the line. Federal Defender: Luis Rosario is 67 years old, a US citizen with no passport. He has resided in The Bronx for 50 years, the last 11 with his wife. He is not violent

Federal Defender: The Bail Reform Act compels Mr. Rosario's release... He had colon cancer, he would be living a mile away from 755 Coster.

Judge: The US has shown danger, and I do not thing conditions to release him exist

He was detained.

Jump cut to March 11, 2024: the District Judge who now has the case, Gregory H. Woods, allowed Rosario out on $75,000 bond co-signed by two financially responsible people, no contact outside the presence of counsel with seven people, and "no travel within three blocks of 755 Coster Street, Bronx."

Jump cut again to September 18, 2025 when Rosario pled guilty to Count 1 before Judge Woods.

On February 2, 2026 the US Attorney's Office wrote in asking for 180 months on Rosario on February 9.

The case is now US v. Rosario, 24-cr-107 (Woods)
