Man from Mexico Detained by ICE on Bushwick Ave Files Habeas Petition in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 25 –A man from Mexico was detained by ICE on February 24 outside his home at 701 Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn on February 24 and taken to 26 Federal Plaza in lower Manhattan.

He filed a habeas corpus petition in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on February 25. where Inner City Press found it.

The case was assigned to Judge John G. Koeltl.  The petition says he "entered the US without inspection around 2013 and was never encountered by Border Patrol." The petition, filed by his "next friend," asks for attorneys fees.

Inner City Press remains on the case(s).

The case is Casimiro v. Francis, et al., 1:26-cv-1556 (Koeltl)
