May 13 – A case
against Uber by drivers
accusing the company of
misclassifying them as
independent contractors has
been stayed in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
Uber
pushed to compel arbitration.
The drivers pointed to a case
argued in the U.S. Supreme
Court in March, Flowers Foods
v. Brock, about whether
"last-mile" delivery drivers
are exempt from the Federal
Arbitration Act, saying it
might change things.
The
defense said Uber was only
mentioned once in the oral
argument. Inner City Press
tweeted:
Uber's lawyer:
Uber Eats only came up once in
the Supreme Court argument and
the answer was No. For us,
there is no unbroken stream of
interstate commerce.

Koeltl: OK, I'll stay time to
move or answer until 21 days
after Brock Supreme Court
decision.
