COURTHOUSE,
Oct 8 – A Nigerian
lawyer living in the UK won a
judgment there against the
Nigerian government and its
funds in JP Morgan Chase. It
filed suit in New York to
collect.
On October
8, 2024, the case was before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman. Inner
City Press covered it.
At issue
was when the defendants can
depose the plaintiff, now said
to be in failing health in the
UK.
JP Morgan Chase's
lawyer said he had not
interest in traveling there;
it appears he can do it
virtually.
Judge Liman said the
deposition should be done by
December 20.
The case is
Williams v. Federal Government
of Nigeria, et al.,
1:23-cv-7356 (Liman)
