Keyes On Verge of Guilty Plea Needed Lawyer Now for VOSR Requests Time Served 1 Month

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 3 – Fernando Keyes was arrested for drugs and guns between Christmas and New Years 2019 on 178th Street and the Grand Concourse in The Bronx.

On August 10 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Ronnie Abrams had scheduled a change of plea proceeding for Keyes. Inner City Press covered it.

Keyes' lawyer Thomas Ambrosio said some issues have arisen that he needs to discuss with Keyes, but that given the COVID-19 lockdown of the MCC, he has been unable to.

He emphasized, I am not saying my client is planning to go to trial. He just never some assurances.

Judge Abrams said she understood, and re-scheduled the guilty plea proceeding.

Jump cut to February 27, 2025 when the US Attorney's Office, on the eve of a VOSR hearing, wrote in to say their police officer witness may not be able to appear as he's "exceeded his allowable overtime hours."

The case is USA v. Keyes, 1:20-cr-95 (Abrams)
