SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 28 – Four members of the LaForest family were charged with embezzling $17 million from an electrical contracting company.

On January 11, 2022 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Colleen McMahon  held a conference. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge McMahon asked about defense motions.

Reference was made to the Secret Service lab.

Jump cut to July 13, 2023. After pleas, on July 13 Judge McMahon imposed sentenced in the case. 78 months for Sabitri LaForest and 55 months for Garry LaForest.

On February 26, 2024, Sanjay LaForest asked for a sentence of time served, citing a "disturbing upbringing... his father had a terrible temper."

On April 4, the US Attorney's Office requested 21 months for Tantiana LaForest, and 15 months for Sanjay.

On June 3, Sanjay got six months: "Minute Entry for proceedings held before Judge Colleen McMahon:Sentencing held on 6/3/2024 for Sanjay Laforest (4) Count 2. Defendant Sanjay Laforest is sentenced to a SIX (6) MONTHS term of imprisonment.  Defendant is to surrender for service of his sentence, to the facility designated by the BOP, before 2:00 p.m., on January 6, 2025. Defendant must make restitution in the total amount of $352,730.58, payable to the Clerk of the Court (SDNY), for disbursement to the victim "Atlas Acon Electric."

January 6 was extended to April 6, 2025.

Jump cut again, to January 31, 2025, docketed: "I represent the aforementioned defendant, Sanjay LaForest. Mr. Laforest was sentenced to six months incarceration and is currently due to surrender on April 6, 2025. Mr. Laforest is requesting another postponement to surrender. He is respectfully requesting to surrender on August 8, 2025.. Mr. Laforest is the project manager and director of a new restaurant. It will not open until April of 2025. ENDORSEMENT: There will be no more extensions, whether the government consents or not. (Signed by Judge Colleen McMahon on 1/30/2025)."

So surrender is still set for April 6, as of February 28.
