COURTHOUSE,
Jan 27 –A man who left the
country of Georgia on October
1, 2023 and entered the US
without inspection at Tecate,
California on December 30,
2023 was detained by ICE in 26
Federal Plaza on January 27.
That same day he
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the US District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The
petition says he was born in
Kutaisi, Georgia. On October
27 he appeared for a routine
ICE check-in at 26 Federal
Plaza and was arrested without
prior notice, written
explanation or individualized
custody assessment.
The case
was assigned to District Judge
Jennifer L. Rochon. It
is Grdzelidze v. LaDeon, et
al., 1:26-cv-692 (Rochon)
