Indicted in 2009 Family Drug Case Man Went to Dominican Republic Now Arrested SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 25 –   A man who was indicted in 2009 in a drug distribution case with others including family members then went to the Dominican Republic was presented, arraigned and released on bond on November 25, 2024 by U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Barbara C. Moses. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag court.

Judge Moses noted that it had been a case of then-Judge Shira A. Scheindlin, then reassigned to Judge Kimba M. Wood.

The man retained (paid) counsel, and said he had not used drugs in 35 years. Testing and possible treatment was nevertheless ordered.

The case is USA v. Matias, et al., 1:09-cr-1633 (Wood / Moses)
