For Fentanyl Sales on 129 Street Man in Sling Was Detained in MDC US Gets 220 Months

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 14 –  Cyron Lee was arrested and charged with fentanyl sales on Madison Avenue near 129th Street in Upper Manhattan.

On October 31 he appeared before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Gary Stein. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag court.

The complaint described a red car coming to buy, from 138th Street in The Bronx, and a text "Red it's the homie." They called the drugs "yellow t-shirts."

On October 31, Lee had a sling on his arm. He consented to detention, but a response has been sought from the MDC jail if they can provide physical therapy, if needed. A control date of November 3 in the Mag court has been set.

Inner City Press covered that as well. The medical director of the MDC is away - it was asked, Is he on vacation? Alternative locations, where an inmate is in a hospital bed but chained by wrist or ankle to its frame, were discussed. Judge Stein indicated he would like to remain on his case.

On November 14, the case was indicted by the grand jury and wheeled out to District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan.

On November 15, co-defendant Rawson Lemons was brought into the SDNY Magistrates court. Inner City Press was the only media there. Lemons was appointed counsel who consented to detention.

On March 27 for a March 28 conference, Judge Kaplan signed an order authorizing the use of force to to remove the defendants from the MDC and bring them to court.

On June 11, 2025 he pleaded guilty. Then after a series of sealed documents, on August 28 the US wrote in asking for 20 years.

On October 14, 2025 he was sentenced to 220 months.

The case is USA v. Lee, et al., 1:23-cr-591 (Kaplan)
