for Embezzling $769000 Pled Guilty
Now US Wants 18 Months

Oct 31 – A woman arrested in
January for embezzling over
$700,000 from her employer
came to plead guilty on May 6
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge George B.
Daniels.
The complaint
quoted a series of emails
demanding changes from the
Payroll Services
Provider.
The
information charged Wire
Fraud. Sentencing was set for
September 16 then pushed back
to November 5.
On October 28 her
Federal Defender wrote in
asking for probation or
supervised release - no
incarceration. On October 29
it was docketed that "to
respect the privacy of Ms.
Ballanza's adult son who is
not a defendant in this case I
would like to redact the
mention of the sexual abuse he
suffered as a child.
On October
31, the US Attorney's Office
wrote in asking for a below
guideline sentence of 18
months.
