SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 17 –
In ongoing lawsuit "In Re
Terrorist Attacks on September
11, 2001," originally filed in
2003, document sealing issues
were debated on July 17, 2024.
Inner City Press was there, thread:
...The FBI is
arguing to keep some [PII]
sealed, citing "law
enforcement interests." Also
cites Saudi Arabia asking for
sealing.
Counsel: The FBI
is seeking to redact the sames
of people in the support
network of the hijackers. And
on phone numbers, the area
codes and last four numbers
should be released. Judge: The
other 3 numbers could be
reverse-engineered.
Judge: I
have the information.
Articulate to me, why should
the general public have it?
Counsel: So
people can assess the claims
of Saudi Arabia
Judge: I don't
think we can discuss this
further in a public setting...
But how is
Judge Daniels supposed to hear
from the public? The docket
provides no insight.
