Man Who Mailed Cocaine from California to Himself Pled Guilty On Co-D US Redacts

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 22  – For mailing cocaine from California to his apartment building in Manhattan, a man pled guilty on March 7 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Margaret M. Garnett. Inner City Press is covering the case.

The complaint described the mailing of 108 packages over the course of a year, and has images of text messages with CC-1.  Canine-1, a Belgian Malinois mix, indicated the drugs in the 33rd floor apartment.

Defendant Rodriguez was arrested on March 15, 2024 at JFK Airport. His sentencing was scheduled for August 11 at 11 am - when moved to September 18.

On June 27 co-defendent Aburto pled guilty, with sentencing set for September 25 at 11 am.

[On September 15 Aburto's counsel wrote in asking for delay so that Aburto has travel to Paris, saying that the AUSA objects to the continuance.]

On September 4 Rodriguez' lawyers in a heavy redacted submission asked for six to seven years when he is sentenced on September 18.

On September 18 he was sentenced to 90 months: seven and a half years, with a recommendation he be designated to a facility near Los Angeles.

On October 16 co-defendant Aburto's lawyer asked for time served; sentencing is set for October 27 at 10 am.

On October 22 the US Attorney's Office, redacting the reason, asked for "below 108 months." Can you say, cooperation?

The case is USA v. Rodriguez, et al., 1:25-cr-93 (Garnett)
