A Lithuanian defendant who was
the subject of a 2023
still-sealed fraud complaint
in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York was presented virtually
by Facetime from Georgia
before SDNY Magistrate Judge
Katharine H. Parker. Inner
City Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag
court.
The
defendant, now and actually
named Justinas Butkus, was
assigned a Federal Defender
and got conditions of release.
The complaint
points to a previous complain,
under another name, 23-mj-936,
still under seal.
This
new case is USA v. Butkus,
24-mj-3223 (Parker)
