COURTHOUSE,
March 18 – Two defendants were
presented today on March 18 on
drug and, for one, gun charges
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge
Katharine H. Parker. Inner
City Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag Court. Thread:
The lead named
defendant is charged with
selling guns and $54,000 of
fentanyl. AUSA: He
entered illegally from the
Dominican Republic through
Mexico over a river.
Defense: We want
bail. Federal Defender: As to
the guns, he is only charged
with selling them. That the
two kilos are fentanyl, it has
only been field-tested Judge:
But he fled and hid in a
garage Defense: That's the
co-defendant
AUSA: But this
defendant had more than 2 guns
for sale Defense:
He has worked in Chick Fil A
AUSA: He didn't appear in
court on an ealier Wal-Mart
larceny charged. The car he
used to sell the gun on
Tremont Avenue in The Bronx
had Massachusetts plates
Judge: Detention
is warranted in the case. He
can get other guns. His status
here is unauthorized.
Then
on the second defendant, a
pitch was made for reverse
because he was not charged
with guns. Fleeing police did
not come up, but he had a
previously illegal re-entry
case in SDNY and is on
supervised release. Amid
whispered talk of detainers,
he too was remanded.
The case is
USA v. Solano Castillo, et
al., 1:25-mj-899 (Parker)
