SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Oct 7 -- A man and woman
arrested with a duffle bag of
fentanyl in a livery cab in
East Harlem on October 6 were
presented before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Gary Stein on
October 7. Inner City Press
was there, the only media in
the SDNY Mag court.
There was a Spanish language
interpreter; there were two
lawyers for the two defendants
at the table. The complaint
describes them declining to
consent to a search of their
bag - then deployment of a
drug-sniffing dog.
They
consented to detention,
without prejudice to a later
application.
The case is
USA v. Garcia-Almanza,
1:25-mj-3185 (Gary Stein)
