Manhattan Bank Robberies in 10
Days Is Detained on Consent in

COURTHOUSE,
June 15 – A man charged with
four bank robberies by threat
in ten days in Manhattan was
presented on June 15 in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrates Court. Inner City
Press was the only media
there, and witnessed
it.
The first
alleged bank robbery was at
2770 Broadway on May 26. That
same day, another one nearby
at 2521 Broadway - he passed a
note, "This is a robbery. No
quarters or small
denominations."
On June 1, a bit
north at 2831 Broadway. On
June 4, over on the East side
at 1504 Third Avenue - he
passed a note, "Twelve seconds
or I'll kill you," the
Complaint says.
The AUSA said the
defendant had been arrested by
NYPD and put in the Eric M.
Taylor Center, then writted
into Federal custody.
He
consented to detention, his
Federal Defender said, since
he remained in state custody.
He waived his preliminary
hearing to the 30th day.

USA v. Cruz, 1:26-mj-2250
