June 26 - In the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
on January 3, a sentencing was
held by Judge Sidney H. Stein
on a defendant who fired a gun
in Manhattan while high on
ecstasy.

Lucas'
lawyer said he
had and may
still have a
job as a concierge.
Judge Stein
expressed sympathy,
but said
allowing
gunfire in
crowded
streets is not
possible, that
general
deterrence is
needed.
Lucas'
Federal
Defender said
the media is
not paying
attention to
this case.
Judge
Stein stuck to
what he had
proposed, 366
days, and
hoped Lucas would
keep his job.

US Attorney
wrote in about
the defendant's
subsequent
arrest for
guns, and jail
call saying he
wanted to
"punch [the
prosecutor]
dead on her
face."

the Federal Defender's
request to
remove the
condition that
he spend
12 months in a
halfway house
be removed,
since he has
found a
place to live
out of East
Harlem, in Long Beach
in Nassau County
just back the
Rockaway. The
request was granted.
