SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Oct 4 – A woman was charged
with filing false employment
claims with the NYS Department
of Labor, using other people's
identities.
On October 4,
2024 she came to plead guilty
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge Sarah
Netburn. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag court.
Judge
Netburn asked the defendant if
she is a US citizen. No, was
the answer.
The
initial charge had a second
count, aggravated identity
theft, which carried a
mandatory two year consecutive
minimum.
The October 4
guilty plea was to one count,
not ID theft. Sentencing
control date was January 5,
2025
The case is US v.
DeJesus, 22-cr-547 (Marrero /
Netburn)
