Gann Accused of 7 Bombs in SoHo Pleads Guilty after Cupped Ears and Hopped in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Jan 20 -- This week DOJ announced charges against MICHAEL GANN alleging that he manufactured at least seven improvised explosive devices using precursor chemicals ordered on the internet, stored at least five IEDs and shotgun shells on adjoining rooftops of residential apartment buildings in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, and threw at least one IED onto the subway tracks of the Williamsburg Bridge.

On July 25 Gann was arraigned before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag court.

Sitting beside his Federal Defender, Gann cupped his ears and hopped up and down.

After a not guilty plea, he consented to detention. He was set to see the assigned District Judge Dale E. Ho on August 13.

And docketed on January 20, 2026, he pleaded guilty: Michael Gann held on 1/16/2026.  Defendant withdraws previously entered not guilty plea and enters a plea of GUILTY to Count One and Count Two of the S1 Superseding Information. Sentencing is scheduled for May 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Detention continued.

The case is USA v. Gann, 1:25-cr-331 (Ho / Wang)
