SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
March 18 – In another crypto
industry prosecution by DOJ,
on April 29 crypto-mixed
Samourai Wallet's Keonne
Rodriguez was presented and
released on bond in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Court, where Inner
City Press was the only media
present.
Rodriguez, 35, was released on
$1 million bond, to be secured
by a property at 610 Wood
Street, Harmony, PA 16037.
Of note are the conditions of
release: "(i) Defendant is not
to operate, work for, or
perform services for Samourai
Wallet. (ii) Defendant is not
to engage in any
cryptocurrency transactions,
directly or indirectly, w/o
prior approval of PTS and the
Government. (iii) Defendant is
to have no contact with his
co-defendant, directly or
indirectly, except in the
presence of counsel."
His
co-defendant William Hill was
arrested in Portugal and
would, DOJ said, be
extradited.
On July 9, the US
opposed Hill's request to be
bailed out to Portugal. The
requests has two sealed
letters of the type usually
made public; it also includes
a letter on crypto to AG
Merrick Garland from Senators
Lummis and Wyden that cites
the Roman Storm / Tornado Cash
case, letter now on Patreon here.
Hill was ordered
allowed to leave SDNY with
three apartments put up and,
in a letter later on July 10,
to travel to Portugal with an
iPhone to track location, and
GPS or "additional conditions"
there.
On March 18, 2025
a schedule: "as to Keonne
Rodriguez, William Lonergan
Hill held on 3/18/2025. Motion
schedule set as follows:
defense motion by 5/9/25;
government response by 6/6/25;
defense reply by 6/20/25; oral
argument, if necessary,
scheduled for 7/16/25."
Like
Tornado Cash / Roman Storm and
other crypto cases (SBF book
Crypto Criminal on Amazon
here), Inner City Press will
cover the case.
It is US v.
Rodriguez, et al., 24-cr-82
(Berman / Netburn)
