COURTHOUSE,
Dec 26 – A woman from El
Salvador and her two children
were detained by ICE on
December 4 in 26 Federal
Plaza. They filed a habeas
corpus petition that Inner
City Press has been covering
since.
The
petition recounts that the
three crossed into the US from
Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas on
October 26, 2023. After nine
days of detention they were
released into the US.
"A female
immigration officer gave her a
cell phone and instructions on
how she would be required to
take a photo of herself and
send it to ICE every Tuesday
between 10 am and noon through
the SmartLINK application
installed on her phone." She
followed that instruction.
Summoned
to a December 4, 2025
check-in, they went - and were
detained.
US
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Andrew L. Carter has set
a conference in the case for
January 7 at 4:30 pm.
The case is
Alcantara de Erazo, et al. v.
Trump, et al, 1:25-cv-10098
(Carter)
