On June 5, Inner
City Press live tweeted, thread:
uo's lawyer: Were
you referred to someone who
might get you paid back?
Witness: Yes. Known as Long
Island Runner. Guo's lawyer:
And Mr. Guo asked for the
names of other people who
needed to be paid back
expenses?
Witness:
No. Guo's lawyer: Were
that others who needed to be
paid back expenses? Witness:
Yes. I told Mr. Guo about it.
Guo's lawyer: You don't know
what he did with that info,
right? Witness: I don't know
what he did. Guo's lawyer: You
never asked him to personally
pay?
Witness: Mr. Guo
told me over the phone he
could use the money in his own
pocket to pay me back. I said,
that is not necessary. But
there are others that need to
be paid back and I hope it
could be in a normal way.
Guo's lawyer: You thought G-TV
was a scam?
A: Yes
Guo's lawyer: But you didn't
say that to Mr. Guo when you
spoke with him, right?
Witness: You mean my
suspicion? I was afraid of
telling him that. Judge: Let's
break
After jury
leaves: AUSA: Our next witness
is traveling from Australia
and our intention is to get
her home by Friday. We have
another civilians witness from
Texas. But the defense says
"It's almost as if Government
has a witness scheduling
issue" - sarcastically
AUSA: The
government is behind were it
expected to be, to be candid
to you. Next week we have
witnesses from outside of the
country. We ask to go later on
Thursday and Friday. We think
the defense is trying to delay
this witness, in light of
travel.
Guo's lawyer:
This cross examination is a
slog, because the witness is
unwilling to answer, they are
unresponsive. That is not the
fault of the defense and
shouldn't be held against us.
Any suggestion to the contrary
is off-base. This wasn't even
raised to me.
Judge Torres: I
have handled 100s of trials.
The cross examination here has
been atypically close. I would
like you to be more efficient
in your cross. I will ask the
jurors. What about today?
AUSA: Yes your Honor. Judge:
I'll ask, we'll see.
Re-direct: AUSA:
What else to Mr. Guo promote?
Witness: Cryptocurrency... G
Coin and G Dollars; H Coin and
H Dollars. Also, Digital bank.
G Club card program. AUSA: Ms.
Li, please keep your voice up.
What was the purpose of the
digital bank project? A:
Mercantile
Witness: Later
the banking license was
canceled. AUSA: What did Guo
promise? Witness: No loss or
he will repay us. AUSA: Show
the witness GX Bi184. Put it
on mute.
Defense lawyer:
Voir dire... Did you watch
this video in the prosecutor's
office? Yes. Before? Yes
AUSA: This is Stipulation 10,
about translations.... Here's
the translation: If you lose a
penny, I will take care of it.
Brother 7 will take
responsibility. Judge: Lower
your mic. There is feedback.
AUSA: How often
would he make these promises?
Witness: Always. AUSA:
Did Mr. Guo say why he was
doing these investment
projects? Witness: So that his
followers could become right.
He said CCP was afraid of his
supporters getting rich. AUSA:
What effect did this have on
you?
Witness: I
thought our money was safe.
100% trust AUSA: What is
this? Witness: Sunglasses Guo
gave me. I said I liked them
and he said, take them, they
are yours. AUSA: Admit them.
Defense: I haven't seen them.
Open the evidence bag. AUSA:
What was G TV? Witness:
Platform to produce the truth.
No longer exists
AUSA: Did G TV
show viewer numbers? Witness:
Yes. In the millions. Much
more than on YouTube. AUSA:
Did you think the G TV
viewership numbers were
accurate? Defense: Objection
Overruled. Witness: They were
too high. Only his channel was
this high Witness: CCP
has the great firewall. Guo
said he wanted to get G TV in.
AUSA: How?
Witness: Some
Israel technology.
AUSA: Why did you
believe him? Witness: I follow
him 3 years. AUSA: If you had
known the truth would you have
invested? Witness: No
