SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 10 – Five defendants
in a telemarketing scheme were
presented past 8 pm on
November 20, 2019 in the
Magistrates Court of the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
On April 2,
2021 Jen Shah of Real
Housewives Of Salt Lake City
was arraigned in the same case
- and a $1 million bond, with
$250,000 of it secured by case
or property, required. Inner
City Press live tweeted that,
below.
On
December 16,
Shah's lawyer
in a heavily
redacted
submission
asked for 36
months, far
below the plea
deal. Exhibit
list, along
with redacted
statement by

On July 11, 2022, a
week before trial, at 10 am this
was sent out by the prosecutors:
"10:30 a.m. – proceeding of
interest It connoted a guilty
plea, as Inner City Press
immediately noted - before going
and live tweeted it, here:
(then vlog
here)
(and then plea deal on Inner
City Press' DocumentCloud here)
She got 78 months, Inner City
Press won some unsealing.
Jump cut to December 10,
2024 when cooperator Stuart
Smith was up for sentencing.
Inner City Press went and live
tweeted it, thread
Defense: Ms Shah put the Porsche
in his name, it was damaged and
he no longer has it but he is
still paying for it. He has
cooperated fully with the
government. He paid his own way
to NYC for what was to have been
the Shah trial.
Judge Stein: He was
involved in fraud from 2012 to
2021. I think some prison time
is appropriate. Defense: The
Kosovo fraud was all Ms. Shah
AUSA: Smith was treated by
Jen Shah in ways no one would
want to be treated. He cried in
proffer sessions. Judge: I'm not
sure where emotion fragility
fits in sentencing
Smith: I feel those who
arrested me freed me from the
Devil- Judge: You mean Jen Shah?
Smith: Yes. I did try to get
away from her. I was thankful
for the arrest, I got out from
under her thumb
Judge: It seems Mr Smith was not
entirely an independent actor.
So I am going to be lenient. I
sentence you to 9 months
incarceration ...
The case is USA v. Cheedie, et
al, 1:19-cr-833 (Sidney Stein)
