COURTHOUSE,
Jan 3 – A 21-year-old
Guatemalan detained by ICE in
26 Federal Plaza filed a
habeas corpus petition on
Saturday, January 3 in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
where Inner City Press found
it.
The
petition says he "entered the
US as a child and was placed
in removal proceedings while
still a minor."
He "has no
meaningful family ties or
support system in
Guatemala."
There is a
request for a temporary
restraining order to enjoin
the respondents from
continuing his detention and
from transferring him out of
the jurisdiction of the SDNY
court.
The case is
Xol-Maas v. Noem, et al.,
1:26-cv-25 (Unassigned)
