COURTHOUSE,
Jan 6 – An asylum seeker
from Afghanistan who has been
detained by ICE filed a habeas
corpus petition on January 5
in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The petition says
"as learned from an ICE
officer on January 5, ICE
seeks to transfer Mr. Khanjari
outside the Districts of New
York... Mr.Khanjari does not
have the resources to hire
private counsel in another
jurisdiction should he be
transferred."
It
requests a stay of transfer,
release and attorneys fees.
The case
is Khanjari v. Genalo, et al.,
1:26-cv-51 (Unassigned)
