COURTHOUSE,
Feb 12 –An indigenous
20-year-old man from Guatemala
was detained by ICE on Staten
Island, NY on February 11 and
detained in 26 Federal Plaza.
On February 12 he
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the US District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The
petition says that "his first
language is Cakchiquel. He is
not able to read or write in
Spanish."
The case
was not assigned out as of 11
am on February 12.
