SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
March 3 –A woman who has lived
in New York for over four
years was a passenger in a car
that was stopped in Nassau
County on March 2. ICE
detained all of the occupants
and moved her to 26 Federal
Plaza in lower Manhattan.
The next day she
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the US District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The
petitioner is 53 years old,
and suffers from ongoing
mental-health issues due to
past trauma and abuse, the
petition says. She was a
passenger in a car driven by
another woman as the two went
to work. Local police stopped
the car - then called ICE.
The case
had still not been assigned
out as of 1 pm on March 3.
This case is
Castro Anariba v. Genalo, et
al., 1:26-cv-1729 (Unassigned)
