SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 6 – A scandal of
Allianz that has been brewing
since the collapse of its
investment funds as COVID set
has given rise to guilty pleas
of two cooperators, and the
indictment of Gregoire
Tournant, by Southern District
of New York prosecutors on May
17, 2022.
Jump cut to
January 9, 2024 when Chief
Judge Laura Taylor Swain held
a conference. Inner City Press
was there.
On June 6, 2024,
Tournant pled guilty. Inner
City Press was there, thread
On November 8
Tournant's lawyers asked for
no jail time, arguing that "as
a result of his conviction,
Greg will never work in the
finance industry again
[REDACTED]
On November 15
the US Attorney's Office wrote
in asking for "no fewer than
seven years' imprisonment."
On November 27
Tournant's counsel wrote in
asking for no jail time,
citing "Greg's health and the
substantial monetary
penalties" and arguing that
the "actual loss in this case
is zero."
Sentencing is set
for December 6 at 11 am.
And on December 6
Tournant got no prison time:
36 months probation, the first
18 of which are home
confinement (he can still go
out).
Contrast to
Brenda Laverty, a smaller time
fraudster - not convicted -
who was extradited in from a
cancer ward in Cyprus but
remains in the MDC, despite a
letter from many other female
inmates there...
