COURTHOUSE,
June 6 –A man up for
sentencing a felon in
possession of ammunition on
June 6 had what his lawyer
called "one of the most
traumatic and troublesome
childhoods one has
encountered."
It culminated
with his step-father making
him drink tequila as a
punishment. Thereafter
he was prescribed Risperdal,
Depakota and Ritalin, but he
refused because it made him
wobbly.
On
October 23, 2022, drunk, he
fired a gun "knowing that he
had previously been convicted
of a felony."
On June 6,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Vernon Broderick held
the sentencing. Inner City
Press was the only person in
the gallery.
Judge Broderick
was not without sympathy. In
the end he sentenced Garcia to
57 months and said he hoped he
never sees him again.
The case is
US v. Garcia, 23-cr-589
(Broderick)
