In Corrupt UN of Guterres UNESCO Race Goes to Egypt amid Unanswered Kassianides Qs

By Matthew Russell Lee & varied sources, Exclusive

UN GATE, Oct 6/7UNESCO, like the whole UN system under Antonio Guterres was been falling apart in corruption and fraud.

Inner City Press has been reporting on serious malfeasance by the French Audrey Azoulay administration at UNESCO in Paris, almost as bad as Antonio Guterres' corruption in and of the UN in New York. A fish rots from the head.

The UNESCO corruption series is now 141 stories long, with different voices

On October 6 Khaled El-Enany of Egypt was selected to take her post, by the blow out vote of 55 to 2. He had his supporters - on September 29 Inner City Press published one, a counter point to our expose of Azoulay's desperate bid to prop up the candidate from Congo Brazzaville:

Hi Matthew,  Thank you for the innercitypress reporting and making sure that important truths are shared. The upcoming election for DG of UNESCO is pretty scary. Only having two candidates to choose from is sad and the Egyptian candidate does not seem to be an option for change after Azoulay.

Azoulay has extremely late if at all announced her support for the Egyptian candidate running for UNSCO DG. It is of course not proper for an incumbent head of a UN agency to demonstrate support for candidates campaigning to succeed them. But Audrey Azoulay does not follow established diplomatic rules or act out of concern for the organisation she has been in charge of for the last 8 years. The reason is simple - she is concerned about her legacy and her concern is well founded as there is surely enough scandalous evidence on her reign of UNESCO that she would want to protect.

In fact her former chef du cabinet, Nicolas Kassianides is an active contributor to the Egyptian's campaign and has been promised a senior post so that he can once again manage the UNESCO bureaucracy which he learned how to manipulate working for Azoulay. Kassianides efficiently facilitated the wishes of Azoulay and is now planning how he will ensure her legacy. He not only took care of his boss  but also secured lavish perks for himself at the expense of member states, treating the UNESCO budget as his personal candy shop. The promotion of his mistresses and friends regardless of their competencies became a trademark.

His return to UNESCO would be disastrous for the future of the organisation which is facing large budget cuts and must join the struggle of the UN to reform, downsize and become relevant.  Innercitypress documented and reported on many of the scandals Kassianides was responsible for and he had to leave UNESCO in disgrace.  He is now planning his return to UNESCO.

It would  be interesting to know if Egypt intends to give additional funding to UNESCO if their candidate is elected. They have invested large sums already for a 2 year long campaign traveling world on a private jet, promising senior positions for votes and funding from Nordic and Japanese voluntary contributions. We'll find out -

here was our farewell review of the Congolese candidate, and soon the same for Azoulay herself. The UN system is entire corrupt, as we have related pointed out, from Guterres on down. Where will his ample thumb be on the scale of his successor? Watch this site.

This is where UNESCO stands today. We will have more on that. Watch this site.
