In Corrupt UN of Guterres UNESCO Wants to Keep Azoulay On

By Matthew Russell Lee & sources, Exclusive

UN GATE, Jan 4UNESCO, like the whole UN system under Antonio Guterres was been falling apart in corruption and fraud.

Inner City Press has reported on serious malfeasance by the French Audrey Azoulay administration at UNESCO in Paris, almost as bad as Antonio Guterres' ongoing corruption in and of the UN in New York. A fish rots from the head.

Audrey Azoulay left office in November and, despite rumors that she might be in line for a ministerial post, or even as prime minister, as several paid publications in the French press have written, she now heads a little known French foundation launched by her mentor and former boss François Hollande.

Sort of like Guterres and Gulbenkian? See Inner City Press' new book for the 2026 "Next SG" process, "UN Betrayed," here.

Similarly to Guterres at the UN, Azoulay proved at UNESCO that she was a poor manager, a weak diplomat, and a person without values.

However, it seems that we will have to continue to write about Azoulay, as according to our sources, the new Director-General of UNESCO, Egypt's El-Enany, has announced to member states his intention to create an advisory body composed of the three former Directors-General of UNESCO, Japan's Matsuura (88), Bulgaria's Bokova (73), and Azoulay (53). It is quite obvious that this advisory body is designed to keep Azoulay in the place in one way or another.

Several versions justify this strange decision, but the most plausible is that the Egyptian DG does not want any potential confrontation with the host country. It is a bad start.

This applies to his decision to keep the Azoulay's Director of Cabinet Margaux Bergeon-Dars in her position. We already wrote about her (here  and here )

Keeping her on is obviously based on the same logic as playing the complacency card with the French. She sits on the fundraising committee of the Paris Institute of Political Studies, an appointment agreed to by Azoulay but which is contrary to all the rules and totally incompatible with her position at UNESCO. Feeling that her power, veted by Azoulay, is waning, Margaux Bergeon-Dars is panicking at the idea of being gradually marginalized and eliminated. This is why she is currently trying to place her own collaborators within the Cabinet

UNESCO stands today weakened and insignificant, ravaged by financial misappropriations, propitious to the flourishing of abuse of power, corruption and nepotism. Watch this site.

This is where UNESCO stands today. We will have more on that. Watch this site.
