UN GATE,
May 28 – How corrupt and
lawless is the United Nations?
Consider Antonio
Guterres' outcoming chief of
"Legal" affairs, Miguel de
Serpa Soares.
He oversaw the
ouster of Inner City Press first
from its longtime UN work
space, then from the UN as a whole.
His response to a
pro bono legal letter
was to assert unlimited
immunity, including no
coverage of the UN by the
First Amendment or any binding
free press principles.
He
also put in
writing the UN's
contempt for accountability
for bringing cholera to Haiti,
killing over 10,000
people.
His
position is open for bidding
/ purchase, until June 10. Any
actual lawyer would have to
belatedly answer the pending
letters of Quinn
Emanuel and Duane Morris for a
dialogue on restoring the
Press to the UN. Watch this
site.
