UN GATE,
Dec 20 – How corrupt is
the UN system under Antonio
Guterres? Well, the day before
Guterres was set amid Gaza,
bombings and hostages to party
down with Sharon Stone and the
UN Correspondents Association
at Casa Cipriani, WIPO in
Geneva did the same. (A year
later on December 13, 2024,
the same sale of Guterres is
planned).
The World
Intellectual Property
Organization under Director
General Daren Tang threw a
lavish party on December 14,
2023, Inner City Press
far-flung whistleblowing
sources told it, and it
exclusively reported.
On December 18, a
complaint was filed with Tang,
citing Inner City Press'
exclusive report: "Dear
Director General Daren Tang,
We write to you as WIPO
whistleblowers.... See article
in the media
https://www.innercitypress.com/ungate1wipoicp121523.html"
Guterres
has said nothing, refusing
through his spokespeople
Stephane Dujarric and Melissa
Fleming to even answer if it
is false that Stone is
receiving a "UN" award from
UNCA, apparently the UN
Censorship Alliance while
Inner City Press which reports
extensively on the UN remains
banned. Now it's Theo James.
Corrupt.
On
December 20, this: "Hi
Matthew, Please see
below and attached
Unsurprisingly, our complaint
against WIPO's Director of
Internal Oversight Division
Julie Nyang'aya (for
mishandling and burrying
corruption allegations against
her boss WIPO Director General
Daren Tang) has been
squelched. The Vice Chair of
WIPO's Coordination Committee
(there is no Chair) and WIPO
Assistant Director General
Kenichiro Natsume (who reports
to Director General Tang)
decided to close our complaint
against Julie Nyang'aya on the
advice of WIPO's all-male
Independent Advisory Oversight
Committee (IAOC).
No reasons were
provided for closing our
complaint. Yet the same IAOC
had colluded with Ms.
Nyang'aya to burry the initial
corruption allegations against
Daren Tang. The entire process
for addressing corruption by
the Director General is mired
in conflicts of interests and
reeks of a cover-up. We
will continue to fight
corruption at the highest
levels of WIPO and raise our
serious concerns about the
independence of the
investigative function. We
have written to Secretary
General Antonio Guterres on
numerous occasions to report
our concerns about corruption
at WIPO and over Daren Tang's
integrity but there has been
no substantive response."
That's Guterres for you.
