Nov 10– How corrupt and
decrepit has the UN system
become under Antonio Guterres,
in this case due to Guterres?
Today's example is again from
the Office of the High
Commission for Human Rights,
to which Guterres appointed
his unqualified crony Volker
Turk more than two years ago.
From OHCHR
staff: "Dear Matthew Russell
Lee: Volker Turk bemoans about
the lack of funding while
firing P2s and P3s and keeping
D2s, D1s and P5s with fat
salaries. While young
colleagues are being fired
Volker Turk keeps favoring his
cronies like Maarit Kohonen,
Matthias Behnke, Michael
Camilleri or Scott Campbell.
Many wonder why if Colombia is
short of funds Scott Campbell,
who does not speak Spanish was
sent with a non deserved
promotion and at a high cost.
Why was Kim
Taylor promoted despite staff
complaints including on
reprisals to whistleblowers?
If Volker Türk is so committed
to transparency he should
disclose to member states how
many P2 and P3s have been
dismissed to-date, how many P5
or D1s (none as he keeps
the posts for his
friends).
He should be
transparent about the use of
Unearmarked funds used for
posts in Geneva. Volker Turk
lies to member states. There
are cuts to the field posts
but he, Nada al Nashif, Kim
Taylor and Maarit Kohonen have
introduce a “cost recovery “
malpractice by which money
earmarked to the field is NIEC
used to pay expensive posts in
Geneva and New York. This is
fraud to tax payers.
Why budget cuts
affect only junior staff and
the field? Member states
should audit in detail OHCHR
befoe giving more
funding.
