Dec 9 – How corrupt and
decrepit has the UN system
become under Antonio Guterres,
in this case due to Guterres?
Today's example is again from
the Office of the High
Commission for Human Rights,
to which Guterres appointed
his unqualified crony Volker
Turk more than two years ago.
From OHCHR
staff: "Dear Mr. Lee Thank you
so much for helping to expose
corruption in the United
Nations. Todays participation
by Kim Taylor and Volker Turk
at the UNOG event on “Global
Solutions from Within” is an
example of Guterres’ corrupt
UN.
Kim Taylor and
Volker Turk speaking about
staff mental health is a
paramount example of
hypocrisy. They are as
credible as two child abusers
talking about children’s
rights. Before a mainly empty
room Volker Turk and Kim
Taylor preached about
compassion and stress of those
serving in the UN at the same
time as they close all field
offices in Colombia firing
dozens of qualified staff.
Volker Turk talks
about opening a “Meditation
Room” in HQ while Kim Taylor
retaliates against
whistleblowers and gives false
testimonies. Volker Turk, we,
the staff, do not need your
hypocrisy nor your compassion.
We need you to do your work
and to be an effective and
moral leader. Stop wasting
money, stop promoting your
friends like Matthias Behnke,
stop nepotism, stop
firing junior staff (mainly
women), stop promoting your
Knowledge Hub (is that the
best use of 12 million
euros?), stop forcibly
relocating the staff with
families (unless you do not
care about their
well-being). Member
states are accountable for the
use of tax-payers monies.
Member states should watch
that their contributions are
used for human rights work not
for hiring and protecting
friends. Currently
earmarked money is moved for
covering gaps by Kim Taylor.
How much will
tomorrows human rights day
celebration cost? Volker
Turk’s pharaohnic UDHR75 cost
USD 6 millions. Money wasted.
Now OHCHR has a
97 USD million deficit. What
OHCHR needs is a new High
Commissioner and new
management, not a “meditation
room” and a gang of friends”.
Member states must be
watchful.
