UN Somalia Corruption Compared to Minnesota by UN Staff as Volker Turk Bans Press on HRD

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

UN GATE, Dec 10 –  How corrupt and decrepit has the UN system become under Antonio Guterres, in this case due to Guterres? Today's second example is again from the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights, to which Guterres appointed his unqualified crony Volker Turk more than two years ago.

But first this, to Inner City Press from UN whistleblowers in Somalia:

"Dear Mr.  Lee:   Seasons Greetings from little Minnesota.  That’s what United Nations Support Office to Somalia (UNSOS) is being called these days.

As the Somali sponsored corruption unfolds in the State of Minnesota, the similarities between that high-value complex fraud and the corruption in UN’s largest presence in Somalia is remarkable.  Really, very difficult not to notice.  Both allegations involve:

The long-term systematic loss of multi-millions in USA tax payers’ money (25% of the money spent in Somali by UNSOS is from USA tax payers (in UNSOS its mostly in the Procurement System facilitating disbursement to Somali vendors through baked procurement exercises),   Both have had fully aware senior levels bureaucrats who have been over time - if not directly involved in the loss by their inaction and abuse of office - turning a blind-eye,   Both have oversight mechanisms that failed and staff that said something. These amounts of losses are incredible and very noticeable on the respective budget,   Both betray the public trust, shatter the respective oaths of office, with inexplicable decision making,

Both have taken place in an environment of impunity,    And somewhat ironically, both have a “Somali Women”, of approximately the same age the same last name (Omar) in close proximity. This last one is just way too much!    The difference is that: In UNSOS the allegations will NEVER be investigated, although the loss is best measured in increments of $10,000,000.  Someone is paying. Someone is getting rich. Some  Director is grinning.     What a show we have!

From OHCHR staff: "Dear Mr. Lee Thank you so much for helping to expose corruption in the United Nations. Todays participation by Kim Taylor and Volker Turk at the UNOG event on “Global Solutions from Within” is an example of Guterres’ corrupt UN...

Volker Turk talks about opening a “Meditation Room” in HQ while Kim Taylor retaliates against whistleblowers and gives false testimonies. Stop wasting money, stop promoting your friends like Matthias Behnke, stop nepotism...

How much will tomorrows human rights day celebration cost? Volker Turk’s pharaohnic UDHR75 cost USD 6 millions. Money wasted.

Now OHCHR has a 97 USD million deficit. What OHCHR needs is a new High Commissioner and new management, not a “meditation room” and a gang of friends”. Member states must be watchful.

Inner City Press re-applied to re-enter the UN on June 19, 2025 - no answer at all from Melissa Fleming, Tel Mekel, Stephane Dujarric. Today's UN is corrupt.
