March 30 – How corrupt
is today's UN system under
Antonio Guterres and, at UNDP,
Alexander de Croo? Today Inner
City Press, banned from the UN
by Guterres with none of its
written questions answer by
Spokespeople Stephane Dujarric
and Melissa Fleming, follows
up on the UNDP beat with this,
sent to it yet another
whistleblower:
It started last
week with, Dear Matthew
Russell Lee: At UNDP, the OHR
Director is on annual leave
until the end of April and
will retire at the beginning
of May 2026. The UNDP Chief of
Staff, Michele Candotti, is
also wrapping up and beginning
his retirement, while still
denying that 15 staff members
inappropriately benefited from
their expatriate status as
internationally recruited
staff. We appealed to
the UNDP Administrator,
Alexander De Croo, to act on
this long-standing corruption
case.
And now today,
March 30, more detail from
another angle, not disgruntled
but angry (at what has
happened in the UN) -
"Michele Candotti
has also collected full travel
entitlements since he
“retired”… it is to the tune
of $20k a month while he is on
a $1 a year contract. He
is somehow justifying his
continued existence (till this
week perhaps) by telling many
he’s bringing in money from
governments including Italy,
but never accepts the blame
for all the donor funding that
was lost during his corrupted
tenure. The excessive
travel entitlements should be
public record in Quantum and
verifiable. This man
should not go into retirement
without his legacy taking a
deserved scrutinized
evaluation of what was
actually accomplished." We're
trying....
