UN GATE,
Nov 24 – How corrupt is the UN
system under Antonio Guterres?
Today we turn once again to
UNIDO:
"Dear Matthew
Lee, We are writing to
urgently bring to your
attention serious concerns
regarding the mismanagement
and potential misappropriation
of European Union funds
allocated to the United
Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO).
Our efforts reporting Ygor
Scarcia internally to UNIDO
Human Resources and the
Internal Oversight Directorate
have gone in vain. So:
The United Nations is ensnared in a
maelstrom following revelations of
transnational embezzlement led by Ygor
Scarcia. Somali whistleblowers allege Scarcia
diverted $800,000 in UNDP funds through Somali
banks, employing shell companies and
cryptocurrencies to circumvent regulatory
checks. Italian sources report that Scarcia’s
operations are global in scope, with his
restaurant in Italy serving as a laundering
conduit and over 20 vendors in Somalia under
his control.
German whistleblowers claim, at the height of
his illicit operations Scarcia employed Sky
ECC to conceal his malfeasance until its
dismantling and funneled stolen UN funds into
equity markets in the UK and Canada. Scarcia’s
exploitation of political instability in
Mogadishu and the vanquishing of
whistleblowers signal corruption and a
systemic lapse that imperils UNIDO’s
credibility. African and Asian members have
voiced their chagrin over UNIDO's
discriminatory enforcement, auditing Global
South staff while neglecting Scarcia's
long-overdue investigation.
We aim to have
more on this, since UN
Spokespeople while taking
public funds refuse to answer
Inner City Press' written
questions.
Keep it coming.
Though Inner City Press
remains banned
by Guterres and no response by
his Melissa Fleming to this,
we continue reporting - keep
it coming. And watch this
site.
