UN GATE,
Dec 30 –
As inside the increasingly
marginal United Nations a
process begins to select a
successor to Antonio Guterres
who banned
Inner City
Press from the
UN as it
reported on
his links
with briber
CEFC China
Energy and to
sex trafficker
Ghislaine
Maxwell,
it is time to review the
history. Part 12:
Also during
the 2017 UN General Assembly
High Level week, the last one
Inner City Press was allowed
to cover in-person before
being banned by Antonio
Guterres, there was a cover-up
of his meeting with Egypt's
Sisi.
The UN claimed that Sisi's
state media Akhbar al Yom
would be “pooling.” But when
Inner City Press asked if
their rarely present
correspondent Sanaa Youssef -
to whom the UN had given Inner
City Press' longtime work
space as punishment for Inner
City Press covering UNCA's
apparently secret meeting in
the UN Press Briefing Room -
who was allowed in the meeting
ostensibly as pooler would say
who was in the meeting, for
example UN human rights staff,
no information was
provided.
It
wasn't a pool - it was a
cover-up. This was and is
Guterres' UN.
Inner City Press asked
Dujarric, in-person, "do you
think it’s appropriate that
that be a media that’s
controlled by the very
Government-"
Dujarric:
"I think what’s appropriate is
that it’s a decision taken by
the Correspondents
Association."
Their Egypt state media
retiree was a former president
of UNCA.
With the UN
calendar slipping into
October, Alison Smale as
Guterres' first Global
Communicator (before he
brought in his closer / censor
Melissa Fleming) told a staff
Town Hall, In an October 3
“Town Hall” meeting in New
York City on which Inner City
Press has exclusively
reported, Smale said there is
a “need to get the Secretary
General out there.” She said
Guterres, a former prime
minister of Portugal, “is not
so widely known in this
country or indeed in other
parts of the
world.”
And that's
just the way they liked it, a
virtual SG visible only
through predictable quotes,
with the Press that actually
covered and cover him banned.
