UN GATE,
Dec 27 –
As inside the increasingly
marginal United Nations a
process begins to select a
successor to Antonio Guterres
who stole the post from female
candidates in 2016 and drove
the UN into the ground
including through censorship,
it is time to review the
history. Part 3
Inner City Press, which
Guterres banned
from the UN as it reported on
his links
with briber CEFC China Energy
and to sex trafficker
Ghislaine Maxwell, both
convicted in the SDNY Federal
court, closely covered
Guterres' dubious selection,
and after. A book is
forthcoming, soon - but here's
from Chapter Two, in which
Guterres refused to disclose
who funded his campaign. There
are no reforms for 2026...
Guterres first photo-op
and meeting as SG was with
with Turkey's Foreign Minister
Mevlüt Çavusoglu, on January
5, 2017. Inner City Press was
there on the 38th floor,
tweeting out a photo here
and Periscope video (gone from
Internet).
Later, because it
would report on dubious
attendees and goings-on at
these 38th floor photo ops,
Guterres' spokesman Stephane
Dujarric would ban Inner City
Press from them. So reporting
would continue with UNTV
video, and from outside the
gate.
On
January 6, 2017 Dujarric said
he would escort Guterres
through the UN press corpse
offices. Inner City
Press immediately asked,
including those who no longer
have UN offices? Video here.
Dujarric said You
are free to go where you are
free to go. He had evicted
Inner City Press from the UN
Press Briefing Room and its UN
office as it covered the
ongoing UN bribery / Ng Lap
Seng case.
On January 6, the
UN's fast-disappearing daily
schedule for Guterres called
it a “Visit to UN
Correspondents Association
Offices.” Upstairs, Guterres
was led
by Dujarric from office to
office -- several were unused,
like Inner City Press'
long-time office S-303,
Egyptian Akhbar al Yom
couldn't even bother to come
in for this. There were
selfies and platitudes, no
questions. Video here.
This is how
Guterres liked and kept the UN
press corpse.
